Sikh Sangeet & SikhitotheMax Shabad Database

Postby admin » Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:50 pm

As you all know, Sikh Sangeet can now pull in Shabads from SikhitotheMax database so that we can show shabads on Sikh Sangeet website, as people are listening. However, we need your help in connecting audio shabads to their text.

Here is an example album where track 02, 03, 04, 05 are all readable. You just click on "Shabad" tab and press "Read Shabad". Link:

So if you want to volunteer by linking the shabads, here are the steps:

1. Login to Sikh sangeet account. ( if you have not)

2. Go to the shabad/album that you want to add the Shabad for.
Example album page:
Notice, in the picture below (of the album page) where it says "Shabad". If there is a star/asterisk (*) next to the word Shabad, it means the track already has shabad translations. If it does not have a star, it means the track does not have translations, so you can add the shabad id there.

3. Play the shabad if you need to. (using the player on each albums page)

4. Find that shabad in

5. When you search, remember to click the "Shabad" button to the right of each shabad in the search results. This will take you to a page that shows the full shabad where you can get the Shabad ID from the address bar. The link will be something like this: (note this last number). The Shabad ID in the example below is "54".

6. In Sikh Sangeet, click the "Shabad" tab right below the track you just listened to. And you will see the following:

7. Put the Shabad ID in that input box (like in the above picture, I put "54"), and click the button "Add Shabad". Please remember, before clicking, you must not confuse Shabad ID with Panna/Page Number. One Panna/Page can have a lot of shabads, we only want Shabad IDs.

Once you have done this, I will make sure the info is correct whenever I have time and then all sangat will be able to read the Shabad lyrics.

Remember your little seva will do a lot for the thousands that use this website.
